The entire project will be a tribute to DREDD, capturing the dark and desolate future of MEGA-CITY ONE. We aim to study and explore the visual effects of this film to capture the essence of DREDD's style.
The story takes place in Mega-City One and revolves around three judges, corruption, greed, and drug money. The narrative is direct and brutal, with a focus on costumes, a dystopian atmosphere, and stunning visual effects, particularly during extended slow-motion sequences. Special attention is given to depicting the effects of the slo-mo drug. The film combines influences from Western movies, featuring high noon shootouts, with elements of the future.
Felix Berner is a German filmmaker who specializes in producing FAN FILMS and is a passionate DREDD fan. He has a deep love for dystopian sci-fi films set in bleak, dark, and gritty futures, plagued by crime, brutality, and ruthlessness. It's a kind of addiction. Portraying these harsh, dangerous, and brutal futuristic worlds without embellishments or softness is always a pleasure for a filmmaker fascinated by tech and future noir movies. This film delves into repressed pain, anger, and aggression, delivering a brutal, raw, and intense experience. The project is crafted with a pure form of (visual) violence, devoid of flourishes, grace, softness, or false idyll. It embraces darkness and brutality.
For this project, we aimed to stay as true as possible to the original source material. Therefore, we made the decision to incorporate original props from the movie DREDD into our fan film. This includes 2 complete control officer costumes, screen-used belts, and Kay's (Wood Harris) flashback shirt.
We have collaborated closely with various prop makers from the DREDD fan community and can proudly assert that everything featured in the fan film is 100% screen accurate.
We pay meticulous attention to every detail. For example, we possess the authentic DREDD Boeker Knife and various replica stunt knives. In terms of visual effects and CGI, we strive to replicate the same look as seen in the movie.
"Dredd" is a 2012 science fiction action film directed by Pete Travis and written and produced by Alex Garland. It is based on the 2000 AD comic strip "Judge Dredd" and the character of the same name created by John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra. Karl Urban stars as Judge Dredd, a law enforcer granted the authority of judge, jury, and executioner in Mega-City One, a vast, dystopian metropolis situated in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Dredd and his apprentice partner, Judge Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), are tasked with restoring order in a 200-storey high-rise block of flats and confronting its resident drug lord, Ma-Ma (Lena Headey).
